Proposal & Engagement Photos

On a Sunday afternoon I got a phone call from an unknown number. I answered it and heard, “Hello, is this Orange Float Photography?”. Delighted that it was an actual human and not a spam call, I happily replied yes! It was Emily’s mother, helping her boyfriend plan his surprise proposal. I soon got in touch with Evan who was planning on proposing the next weekend.

We quickly decided on the always-gorgeous Palladium in Carmel, IN as the backdrop and then just had to wait for his schemes to develop so that he could get Emily in position. Thinking they were going to a fancy dinner with friends, Emily dressed up and headed out with Evan, walking through the Palladium courtyard on their way to a nearby restaurant.

What she didn’t expect was Evan to stop her along the way, kneel down, and pull out the most beautiful ring. I was hiding nearby taking photos, and I had even mounted my phone on my camera to get a little behind-the-scenes video. She of course said YES and soon found herself in the middle of her engagement photoshoot!

We were just late enough in November that the Christkindlmarkt had set up right next to the Palladium, but it wasn’t yet open and filled with visitors. We shot all around the Palladium and the Christkindlmarkt and then walked over to the Cake Bake Shop for a few more urban and festive photos. When it got dark I pulled out the flash for some photos with a bit more vintage/editorial flair.

Evan and Emily are the sweetest couple and I absolutely loved getting to know them and being there to capture these special moments for them.
